They believe if they have the latest 'systems' everything will be streamlined and they will be on their way to making huge profits. Well the reality is something else...especially in small business. You are the one that needs to be finetuned!
Here's what happened to Michael, a financial advisor ...
One of the fundamentals of finding out where my clients spend (or waste), their time is by having them fill in specific time sheets. Now Michael had avoided filling them out because he 'didn't want to write things down'. Eventually he got his act together and completed a time sheet for 1 week. The timesheet identified a number of areas where Michael's time was being wasted. What we also discovered from using this simple tool is that he was going to bed late at night and getting up early in the morning.
Michael was wasting 2 hours of his sleeping time 'switching off' watching the Electronic Income Reducer (also known as the television). Now it wouldn't have mattered if he had less sleep if he was one of those people who didn't require 7-8 hours a night. However he wasn't. In fact for him to really function, he needed at least 9 hours.
His sleeping habits were playing havoc with his productivity which affected his profitablilty. He would often be too tired to focus on getting any work done during the day.
With adequate sleep, Michael was able to gain an additional 5 hours of productive time a week which he used to focus on money-making activities.
